Zhang Ziyi Kickstarts Patent Leather Trend for Fall in Chanel

We see patent leather for fall, and Chanel is definitely one to thank for. Actress Zhang Ziyi, notably the highest-paid actress in China (hence the Chanel overdose), stepped out onto the red carpet for the Los Angeles premiere of her latest flick, ‘The Grandmaster’. The Asian star wore a dress from the 2013 Chanel Fall collection, and she made sure we all knew about it as the youthful 34-year-old has gone overboard with her accessories from the same label.

The ‘Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon’ actress had one too many Chanel logos on her outfit, including a pearl belt that we think the outfit could have done without. Since the dress has a youthful silhouette, a sleek clutch would have been a better option instead of the Chanel purse that made her exude a bit of a dark flower-girl-with-a-basket-and-rose-petals vibe. Her hair and makeup, however, are flawless.

We are excited for fall/winter to come around so we can parade around in leather patent pieces, as well as to see the release of this quaint but truly in-Lagerfeld-style Chanel collection.

In the meantime, stay ahead of the game with our alternate designer patent leather duds.
