Did you ladies watch the Oscars last Sunday?

Did you notice how the red carpet was extremely saturated with gowns in shades of white, black, and red? There were, of course, the occasional tints of blue, green, purple, and beige, but were not as abundant as the first three.

That, plus the odd (and slightly disturbing) pose Angelina Jolie took to showcase her leg throughout the show, were among the things I couldn’t forget about the Oscars this year.

Here’s a recap at the women who chose to keep it classic in white, black, and red for the 2012 Oscar Awards!

A LOT of the Hollywood ladies opted for white – from pure white to ecru to eggshell. And why not? White is the most talked-about non-color on the Spring 2012 runway.

Besides, wearing white always looks elegant, and it is the easiest way to tell everyone you’re oh-so ready for springtime!

It’s a good thing several celebrities chose to wear this rich and intense hue at the Oscars. Despite the fact that the color blends with the red carpet, you really can’t deny how beautiful it looks on these celebs.

We also can’t help but admit that without red, looking at the slew of colorless and subdued evening gowns would have been quite a bore:

Chromophobes like Angelina Jolie kept it classic and classy in black. Angie took vampy several notches up by donning an Atelier Versace gown in plush velvet, while the rest chose sequins, satin, and taffeta.

And while we really can’t complain about the color (or non-color to be exact), more exquisite and elaborate-looking LBDs would have been much more entertaining to watch:

With these pictures, you can pretty much assume that the white dress will be more than just a hot item this coming season; and when it comes to evening gowns, the classic white, red, or black are the colors to grab.
