The girls from The Saturdays were all smiles outside the Radio 1 office, thrilled to announce that their single “What About Us” has reached number 1 and is also the fastest-selling single of the year.

“What About Us” served as their first international single and the lead single from their EP “Chasing the Saturdays” and album “Living for the Weekend.” It features a solo version released in the US and Canada and a version with Sean Paul for international release.

The song received positive feedback from critics but raised questions about its heavily auto-tuned chorus and departure from the group’s usual sound.

The accompanying music video was filmed in Los Angeles during the band’s reality series “Chasing the Saturdays.”

“What About Us” achieved commercial success, reaching number one on the UK Singles Chart and selling over 400,000 copies in the UK.
