Days before the release of her I Knew You Were Trouble video and the launch of her RED Keds limited edition sneakers, Taylor Swift pulled an interesting fashion stunt. Some fans believe Dianna Agron inspired the song.

For the Z100’s Jingle Ball 2012 event, the country cutie ditched her usual retro girly, fit n’ flare, light, and ladylike dresses.

Instead, the talented star opted for a short, figure-skimming little black dress, which she capped off with her signature red lips, a pair of black peep-toe Jimmy Choo heels, and a half-do with lots of fringe.

We must admit, this a refreshing style shift to see, even if she kept things a bit demure with those Jimmy Choo peep toes.

Booties or platform sandals would have given her outfit the extra oomph. Regardless, that sexy LBD was a good enough start if she intended to break away from her former image.

The slight change in appearance may be due to her recent promotion of “I Knew You Were Trouble.” If you’ve seen the MTV video, you’ll understand why. If you haven’t, then check out the preview below:

Now, on to Taylor’s intriguing black dress, which reportedly is by David Koma. What makes it extra unique? If you look closer, it features triangular panels of patent leather on the sides.

Regrettably, her dress is not currently available online. However, we’d like to showcase some other unique pieces adorned with leather trimming that we believe you’ll appreciate:
