So, when the 21-year-old pop star showed up to the 2014 World Music Awards looking all elegant and sophisticated, it came more as a surprise to everyone than any of her recent shock-provoking acts.

Miley hit the stage at Salle des Etoiles in Monte Carlo, Monaco, on Tuesday night to perform one of her popular songs, “Wrecking Ball.”
Ditching the bikini-like-baring leotards, the singer was resplendent in a Giambattista Valli Fall 2012 couture strapless gown.
Miley’s decision to wear the relatively tame dress wasn’t just for covering up, though, as the frock’s floral print matched the abstract patterns projected onto the screens behind her.

In fact, everything in her performance, including her prop couch, piano, and keyboardist Mike Schmid, all featured something floral. Would you say this new theme is an improvement from the foam fingers, nipple pasties, and crying cats?

Miley took the stage again that night to accept her awards for World’s Best Video and World’s Best Female Artist.

Changing out of her Giambattista Valli couture and into a shimmery silver Kaufmanfranco column dress, Miley was able to score two fashion wins in one evening.
Miley received one of her awards towing her younger brother, Braison Cyrus, on stage, whom she referred to as her “hawt date” in an Instagram post.
