While her husband President Barack Obama made history by being inaugurated for the second time as the President of the United States of America, First Lady Michelle Obama made headlines by picking Jason Wu as the designer for her Inaugural Ball dress. Also for the second time.
The First Lady was radiant, ravishing and resplendent in her Jason Wu chiffon and velvet halter gown. The ruby red color beautifully set off her smooth, glowing skin and the halter cut showed off her toned arms and shoulders:

Michelle Obama accessorized with Kimberly McDonald jewels and Jimmy Choo heels. And that ring holding the halter ties on her dress? It’s made of white gold and set with pavé diamonds also courtesy of McDonald.
Jason Wu told WWD that “he was as shocked as anyone and just as nervous as last time”.
“Mrs. Obama likes to keep her secrets. She surprised me again. She’s really good at it,” he said. “I was so nervous. You’d think I wouldn’t be since I’d experienced it before but I really was.”
Congratulations both to the Obamas and to Jason Wu!
Michelle Obama’s Jason Wu gown was custom-made for her but here are 3 red gowns with just as interesting necklines to fit different budgets:
