The Russian tennis champ Maria Sharapova has been in the headlines lately — and, unfortunately, not in a good light.
She has been in a sour mood as of late, having lost a match against USA’s Sloane Stephens at the Cincinatti Open. This was followed by her firing Jimmy Connors (an eight-time grand slam champion), whom she hired as coach after the 2013 Wimbledon.
Due to an injury to her serving shoulder, Maria Sharapova withdrew her bid for the US Open tournament 24 hours before the draw. Sharapova is also rumored to be applying for a legal name change — from Sharapova to Sugarpova — at a Florida court. Sugarpova is the athlete’s confectionery collection, comprising her favorite candies.
Let’s hope that she’ll somehow regain her mojo by launching The Sugarpova Accessory Collection. The event was hosted at the Henri Bendel store in New York City, where she wore a blue-and-black sheer dress from David Koma’s Fall 2013 collection.
