For fans of a franchise like Star Wars, first impressions can mean everything, and the premiere tour for ‘The Force Awakens’ left little room for disappointment.

Many of the Star Wars actors took inspiration from the film’s costume department, despite the risk of looking too costumed.

Lupita Nyong’o jumped right on that train for the Hollywood world premiere.

In a floor-length, cut-out, sparkling Alexandre Vauthier Couture gown, the 32-year-old actress was an intergalactic vision on the red carpet.

Nyong’o is certainly a fashion goddess, and her dress for the Star Wars premiere proved she could also be the fashion goddess of outer space.

The Hollywood beauty is known to try bold and bright colors, but the ultra-gaudiness of her Alexandre Vauthier gown was something new.

The long dress features a mesh fabric with a silver base scattered in shiny silver and emerald rhinestones and sequins. Its metallic fabric almost completely covers the body, with 3/4 sleeves and a short train on the floor.

The surprise occurs at the torso, as large black bands reach across the open backside of the fabric to the middle of the gown. One satin band stretches all the way around the dress in the style of an empire waist belt.

While Lupita Nyong’o usually has us doing double takes to better appreciate her glam get-ups, for the Hollywood premiere of “The Force Awakens,” we almost had to shield our eyes.

The young actress’s beauty is unmistakable, but the dress does little to accentuate her natural charm with its tacky disco ball-like appearance and unforgiving back bands.

We admire her for taking a chance and dressing to the film’s theme, but we wish she had chosen a dress that complemented her body more.

Lupita Nyong’o went with a gorgeous up-do that rivaled Princess Leia in one-sided doughnuts stacked on top of one another.

She matched her eyelids to her dress with a smudge of silver and added a bright red lip for some extra color. Her dangling earrings and sparkling rings from Chopin completed the spacey and reflective ensemble with rhinestones and geometric patterns.

Do you think she nailed this look? Or is it too out of this world?
