Already knowing full well the inner workings of a courtroom, Lindsay Lohan wore a white long-sleeved mini dress from American fashion designer Kimberly Ovitz to signify her innocence against allegations that she stole a $2,500 necklace from a jeweler.

Though the wearing white tactic didn’t work on Judge Keith Schwartz (who set the bail at $40,000 and ordered LL to be remanded to sheriff’s custody), the dress did work its magic on someone else: the fashion-hungry masses who need this dress NOW.

More people care about Lindsay Lohan’s white courtroom dress than speculating whether she’s returning to jail. Whatever was in stock of this $575 pre-fall 2011 dress was snatched up very quickly, only within hours after Lindsay appeared in court.

The interest in the dress puzzled even Lindsay Lohan herself. This prompted the actress to respond to headlines and to leave this message on her Twitter: “What I wear to court shouldn’t be front-page news. It’s just absurd. God bless xox L”

Aside from the felony charges, Lindsay Lohan faces more controversy with the dress she wore to her arraignment last Wednesday.

For one, people are wondering whether the dress really is selling out or is just a clever publicity placement, and two, whether a skin-tight and short mini dress is appropriate to wear in court or not.

It’s not available online anymore, but since it is a pre-fall 2011 dress, it’ll most likely be in stock again soon.
