Jessica Alba was in Paris recently to grace a few events at Paris Fashion Week. Because of the actress’ attendance at the Shiatzy Chen presentation, we learned about the Taiwanese label. Shiatzy Chen was founded by Wang Chen Tsai-Hsia, a designer ranked by Forbes Magazine as one of the 25 most influential Chinese in global fashion. The designer combines Western techniques for crafting clothes with Eastern aesthetics to create unique but wearable clothing.
Jessica Alba wore a dress by Shiatzy Chen to the label’s Autumn/Winter 2013 presentation.

We didn’t anticipate how hard it is to look for cheongsam or Chinese-inspired dresses. There are some cheongsam dresses sold online but none as chic as Jessica’s dress. Unfortunately for most of us, Shiatzy Chen’s main focus is growing its business in the Asian luxury market so the label is mostly sold in China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Malaysia, and Macau. Outside of Asia, the brand is sold in France and Switzerland.
For her Autumn/Winter 2013 collection, Wang Chen created dresses in rich tones and textures:
Black Silk Dress with Tall Mandarin Collar
Red Sleeveless Cheongsam with Embroidery
Orange Cheongsam with Horse and Cherry Blossom Prints
Chinese-inspired Shift Dress with Watercolor Print
Red Embroidered Mini Dress
