I’ve never been big on plaid because it reminds me too much of private school uniforms. But for some reason, I am really liking it on this sleeveless plaid dress from ISSUE:
ISSUE Sleeveless Plaid Dress, $46,99
Beautiful rich red shade offset by navy and metallic gold stripes. The bow on the back is a little too “wrapped Christmas gift” for me but I find that the sexy low cut back more than compensates for that little slip-up.
I think what I like most about this dress though is that it brings back images of the Alexander McQueen Fall 2006 tartan dress that Sarah Jessica Parker wore to the Anglomania Costume Institute Gala in 2006:

Alexander McQueen himself attended the event and matched his kilt to his dress on Sarah Jessica Parker. This was truly one of Alexander McQueen’s most memorable dresses. Vogue editrix Anna Wintour herself remembered this moment when she was interviewed about the late British designer and the legacy he left behind.
If there’s anyone who can change anyone’s mind about plaid, it would be Alexander McQueen.
