I have to say, this year’s Golden Globes was not exactly overwhelming, but it was not disappointing either. Red carpet wise, I think my eyes feasted on many fabulous-looking celebrities compared to last year.

But some seriously stood out from the pack. They stood out because they wore something beautiful yet unexpected, not your usual glittery ball gowns and long sweeping trains.

I can only pinpoint seven of them. At the top of my list is Angelina Jolie. This picture of her in something other than black or white is so refreshing to look at. And I love how it complements her dark hair:

Next on my list is Sandra Bullock. Doesn’t she look dreamy in that Jenny Packham dress? I simply can’t even begin to describe how gorgeous she looks:

Dreaminess didn’t end with Sandra Bullock; check out a very elegant Scarlett Johansson. Isn’t it so refreshing to see her in something feminine and flowy instead of her usual figure-hugging bombshell ensembles?

Another unexpected beauty was Anne Hathaway. She appeared on the red carpet in a stunning and futuristic-looking beaded Armani Prive dress. A big shift from her Cinderella-style, but I like it!

And then there was Emma Stone. The Easy A star was simplistically divine in her Calvin Klein dress. The warm, peachy color looked wonderful against her beautiful tan and light blond hair:

Last but not least is our resident Gossip Girl, Leighton Meester. Queen B appeared on the red carpet in a beautiful Victorian-inspired gown from Burberry Prorsum that simply made her look oh-so-precious…

There you have it, the 7 lovely A-listers who made it to my personal Best Dressed list. What about you? Who made it to yours?

Of the seven, I actually love Emma’s Calvin Klein best. I love its simplicity and I love the punch of color.

With that in mind, I am going to end this post with something I would love to have for spring – the Jenni Kayne A-line long dress in bright persimmon that you can buy on Shopbop:
