At the time of the world premiere of “The Final Girls” on March 13, 2015, Taissa Farmiga was 20 years old, Nina Dobrev was 26, and Thomas Middleditch was 33.
They portrayed the characters Max Cartwright, Vicki Summers, and Duncan, respectively. During the rehearsal for the movie, Thomas Middleditch stumbled over the velvet rope in the theater.
The director, Todd Strauss-Schulson, saw an opportunity for humor and included the mishap in the final film, giving the audience a chance to focus on the cardboard standee for “Camp Bloodbath 2: Cruel Summer” for a brief moment.

Creating “The Final Girls” was an emotional process for co-writer Joshua John Miller. The film served as a way for him to come to terms with the loss of his father, Jason Miller, a renowned actor best known for his role as Father Karras in the iconic horror movie “The Exorcist,” released in 1973.
Through the film, Joshua could pay tribute to his late father and work through his grief.
