While Hollywood is busy preparing for The Oscars, some stars still found time in their schedules for the 2013 Independent Spirit Awards, which were held at Santa Monica Beach on Saturday.
Although many stunning outfits were spotted, we’ve selected seven that got our attention. Let’s first look at Jennifer Lawrence, who bagged the Best Actress award at the event. Fashion-wise, she has had some hits and misses, but this look was a bulls-eye.
1. Jennifer Lawrence turns heads in a youthful Lanvin look
The dress Jennifer wore is from Lanvin’s Spring 2013 collection, and it is edgy and playful. It features a crystal-embellished choker, which is on-trend, and a wrap-around skirt with an asymmetrical hem and an obi-like belt.
She finished her look with Giuseppe Zanotti sandals that feature metal heels, which complemented her dress well.

2. Kerry Washington blossoms in a floral Giambattista Valli Couture dress
Kerry Washington, who wore a Giambattista Valli Fall 2012 couture dress, opted for a head-to-toe floral look.
The exciting design features two shades of green for the bodice and the skirt, giving Kerry a unique springtime charm. Completing her comely look were her Christian Louboutin “Sissi” pumps, which also showcase a floral design.

3. Camila Alves radiates in an Escada coral gown
Camila Alves decided to match the pink carpet of the event as she donned a hot pink Escada gown featuring a round beaded neckline, a cleavage-baring keyhole, and a thigh-high slit at the center.
Normally, we’re a little apprehensive about carpet matching, but we think Camila did it with grace:

4. Brittany Snow charms in Naeem Khan’s nude and pink lace dress
Cute and charming on the pink carpet, Brittany Snow wore a sweet-looking ensemble that included a Naeem Khan spring 2013 tulle-and-lace embroidered dress.
A pair of nude sandals by Jimmy Choo and light makeup completed her pretty and preppy look.

5. Zoe Saldana brings fresh style in Dolce & Gabbana beach-striped dress
Zoe Saldana wore a bold color pattern scheme in a white/green striped dress from Dolce & Gabbana’s Spring 2013 collection.
This classy dress, paired with her white Casadei “Blade” pumps, made Zoe look fit for a cruise, and we wholeheartedly approve of her chic ensemble.

6. Katie Aselton stuns in smoldering Wes Gordon dress
Keeping things sophisticated, Katie Aselton wore a black lace dress by Wes Gordon. The gown has a lingerie-style silhouette with lace, silk tulle, and sequin embellishments and embroideries.
Sexy with a subdued playfulness, the gown features a modest high neck, a two-piece layered style, and a scalloped hem.
We’re not sure how we feel about this sultry-yet-old-fashioned dress, but something about the beach event makes us wonder if Katie could have chosen something more summer-appropriate.

7. Mary Elizabeth Winstead shines in Emilio Pucci dress
Mary Elizabeth Winstead opted for an Emilio Pucci Fall 2012 dress. In expected fall fashion, the dress features long sleeves, but thanks to the shoulder cutouts and light blue color scheme, it can also work for a summer event.
She carried a tangerine clutch to complete the bright look and paired the dress with wedges.
