Diane Kruger and Emmy Rossum joined the roster of celebrities who have been seen wearing prints on the red carpet this week.

Diane wore a Carven strapless dress to the 2013 Hollywood Foreign Press Association Installation Luncheon on August 13. She chose to let her natural beauty show, wearing au naturel makeup and a loose side-swept ponytail to go with her checkered dress.

Just recently, Diane (who is originally from Germany) embraced her newly minted American citizenship by throwing an “Americano” theme party. The star of ‘The Bridge’ wore red, white, and blue and even baked an American-flag-themed cake!

On the other hand, the newly single Emmy Rossum did not look a bit like a weeping ex-girlfriend of Jacob Tyler Moore at the Summer Celebration hosted by Delta Airlines in Beverly Hills on August 16. She looked cheerful in a plaid bustier dress by Rebecca Minkoff.

We love Emmy’s pointed Alice + Olivia pumps, which matched her blue-and-pink plaid dress very well! Take that, Jacob Tyler Moore! Here’s the dress that you can purchase at Amazon:

There has been some confusion regarding the difference between a checked and a plaid print. Generally speaking, a check pattern is simpler than a plaid, usually consisting of only two colors set on even little squares. Plaid, however, is composed of multicolored patterns of uneven crisscrossing lines. Emmy’s dress is plaid, while Diane’s feature a checkered print accented by yellow lines.

Now, between these two beautiful ladies, who do you think wore the printed dress better? Below are some fun alternatives from ModCloth.
