The color blocking trend first swept the fashion scenes back in 2011. Red carpets virtually blazed with a rainbow of colors with so many prismatic dresses being worn by fashion patrons. Even average girls embraced the sudden influx of color, with many stepping up their color blocking game and piling on as many vibrant hues as they can put on.

We thought we have seen the last of it, but the dresses we have recently spotted gave us an exciting glimpse of what could be a comeback of this glorious trend.

1. Ashley Madekwe in Roksanda Ilincic

‘Revenge’ actress Ashley Madekwe looked like a walking rainbow in this Roksanda Ilincic dress that she wore for the Golden Globe Awards. To amp up the color meter, she added a bright yellow clutch to the ensemble.

2. Sandra Bullock in Prabal Gurung

You wouldn’t suspect Sandra Bullock of being close to hitting the prime age of 50 in this festive dress. The red carpet regular sported this color-blocked Prabal Gurung creation boasting a sexy plunging neckline and an asymmetrical hem.

3. Sandra Bullock in Alex Perry

4. Michelle Dockery in Prada

Michelle Dockery shed off her ‘Downton Abbey’ image and went for a sexy but tasteful gown from Prada. The oxblood red combined with a more vibrant shade of red is striking.

5. Julie Bowen in Carolina Herrera

‘Modern Family’ actress Julie Bowen chose this vintage-inspired Carolina Herrera frock. The dress has a deep red velvet top that clashed with its purple skirt. It’s an unusual color combination, but the dress definitely worked for her!
