Wow, talk about breathtaking. Don’t you love this red strapless silk maxi dress from Ralph Lauren’s former assistant designer featuring tonal piping at the seam details and light padding at the corset-style cups?
Brian Reyes Corset Strapless Gown, $1,800
This is the corset strapless gown from the Brian Reyes Spring 2010 RTW collection. The serpentine shape is lovely, the lines are exquisite and it’s the perfect shade of fire engine red.
In fact, it’s the same shade of red that Angelina Jolie and Jessica Biel wore on the red carpet recently and boy, did they knock it out of the ballpark:
Angelina Jolie in Atelier Versace at the premiere of the new movie ‘Salt’ in Oktyabr cinema hall on July 25, 2010, in Moscow, Russia
Never mind that Jessica Biel looks like she’s blending in with the background. And yes, the dress is meant to be see-through like that, just like how Diane Kruger wore Christian Dior at the 65th Venice Film Festival.
I’m sure she was lovely in motion and away from that red carpet in her red dress.

Fire engine red is such a powerful color for dresses that it takes powerful women like these two to pull it off. But for some reason, I feel like the red on the Brian Reyes gown would be a bit more forgiving to wear.
Maybe because I’d be more worried about how “everything is still in its place” while wearing that dress – the right fit is so crucial on strapless dresses.
