The MET Gala that took place last week was, to me, a mix of a lot of things. Well, I guess it was a given, considering the theme of the high profile soiree was Schiaparelli and Prada: Impossible Conversations.

The people, and most especially the fashion, was a fascinating and heady cocktail of looks that included gowns with floor-grazing trains, short mirrored (Chloe Sevigny) and feathered (Kate Bosworth) dresses, lots of glitter and gold, a good amount of black and midnight shades, the occasional whites (Rachel Zoe, Ashley Greene) and reds, and even sassy brights (Emily Blunt, January Jones). Suffice to say, almost everything was in appearance.

And while I watched the celebrities take their fashion full force, I couldn’t help but feel a little disappointed because admittedly, only a few took my breath away. I guess you could say, I preferred the outcome of last year’s Savage Beauty (an ode to the late Alexander McQueen).

Nonetheless, I still have my list of best dressed at the MET this year, and here are the ladies that made the cut. Do note that this is absolutely based on personal preference and you could have an entirely different list altogether:

1. Camilla Belle in Ralph Lauren

If I could pick a favorite, it would have to be Camilla Belle. She nailed the vampy look to perfection with her wine red lips, dewy skin, coiffed hair, and shimmering Ralph Lauren beaded gown. Simply stunning!

2. Rihanna in Tom Ford

Another lady who scored a perfect hit at the MET – Rihanna. I’m so glad she went back to black (and I mean the hair).

Of course, that black croc-embossed gown is decadence at its finest and can’t be ignored; I can’t stop looking at it! Exotic and edgy done just the right way:

3. Diane Kruger in Prada

If there was one person who can manage to look so effortlessly stylish (as if she couldn’t care less) in a swingy, feather-trimmed frock, that person would be Diane Kruger. The dress looks utterly comfortable too!

4. Emma Stone in Lanvin

Red hair, red dress, red lips, the idea sounds too much. But Emma Stone’s creamy alabaster skin made it all happen. She looks fabulous here and I like the fact that she’s all smiles for the camera. And yes, that dress is gorgeous!

5. Nina Dobrev in Donna Karan

Another pretty starlet who got it right – Nina Dobrev. The Vampire Diaries cutie looked divine in her gold-sprinkled one-shoulder black number from Donna Karan, which by the way, came with a mega-train on the back.

She looked like a perfectly put-together modern-day princess:
