Funny girl Anna Faris dressed up for the “Ones to Watch” party held by People Magazine at Hinoki & the Bird in Los Angeles. The comedic actress recently launched her pilot episode of sitcom ‘Mom’ on CBS, which failed to reach the standards of quite a few critics (why, hello there, E!). While Anna Faris will always be one of our favorite comedians ever, her newly sober single mom character was said to fall short on the chuckle-o-meter.

Anna Faris wore a dress by Giuliette, which is a downtrodden version of its majestic runway counterpart that had intricate black beading on the straps and another tier of lattice cutouts on the skirt. The 36-year-old styled the dress up with a clutch from Edie Parker and an H. Stern ring. We’re not huge fans of her horse-hoof-like satin shoes, though.

While the dress is interesting enough, this isn’t one of our favorite Anna Faris looks (come to think of it, last time we saw her was in our maternity maxi dress feature) simply because the colors are all wrong. Had this dress been on someone like Thandie Newton, we would have probably whistled an entirely different tune. The fit is fine and Anna looks gorgeous, but we think this is another classic case of that’s-not-your-dress. Maybe if she had pulled her hair back into a classic one-sided part ponytail to lessen the yellow hues against the sea of faded blues, then maybe, just maybe.

This lattice cutout dress is available at Gilt.
