Alexa Vega is all grown up and, boy, does she know it. The actress, who became known for her role as Carmen Cortez in the ‘Spy Kids’ film series, took to the red carpet as a full-grown statuesque beauty to promote her latest film, ‘Machete Kills’, where she plays a character named KillJoy. The 25-year-old beauty showed off her new engagement ring alongside fiancé Carlos Peña, who put a ring on it only almost a year after the two began dating. The actress was previously married to movie producer Sean Covel, who finalized their divorce around the same time Vega and Peña started dating. Two engagements, a wedding, and a divorce — that’s quite a feat for a 25-year-old.

The actress wore a slinky black mesh number from Roberto Cavalli, which she complemented with an adorable pair of black pointed-toe heels with beautiful crisscross illusion straps. She pinned her loose curls to one side of her face, completing a rather familiar thigh-high slit look — Angelina Jolie, is that you? Hmm, maybe if Alexa stuck out her leg a bit more.

We are loving the ingenious idea behind this mesh insert dress, but we can’t help but think that this was created for those with lengthier torsos (we’re looking at you, celebrity supermodels). Shorter people may have a difficult time with the construction; a little nudge at the fabric may result in an unsightly wrinkled belly area. Nonetheless, it’s a pretty dress despite the fact that it’s just not for everyone.
