6 Weird Dresses at the UK Premiere of “The Wolf of Wall Street”

So, can somebody please explain the strange mix of frumpy and trampy dresses at the UK premiere of The Wolf of Wall Street? Gorgeous stars and personalities showed up at the Odeon Leicester Square in London to watch one of the most anticipated films of the year, and we didn’t expect a parade of misses at the huge event. Is that perhaps a trend for 2014? We hope not. Below are dresses we hope never to see on any red carpet ever again.

1. Zara Martin

Zara Martin at the UK Premiere of "The Wolf of Wall Street" Zara Martin showing up in a powder blue midi-length dress at the premiere of The Wolf of Wall Street at the Odeon Leicester Square in London, England, on January 9, 2014

We have no issues with vintage-inspired dresses, but this shapeless powder blue choice of TV presenter and model Zara Martin was just wrong on so many levels. Maybe if it was shorter and was cinched with a belt of silvery sequins like the ones on her collar, then it could’ve escaped our weird radar.

2. Peaches Geldof in Moschino

If this dress is actually a two-piece ensemble, then, separately, they’re not bad at all. But together, it’s an embroidered, peasant-style evening dress nightmare. Why, Moschino?! If journalist Peaches Geldof went for just the top and matched it with a solid-colored fitted skirt, then all would’ve been well.

3. Leah Wood in Gucci

Musician Leah Wood is so up there on the cool meter that we were shocked to see her pull a Florence Welsh appearance in this gold kaftan-style dress. Don’t get us wrong, we are fans of kaftans, but this golden wonder just didn’t have a place on a red carpet premiere in the early weeks of January.

4. Kathryn Drysdale

We St. Trinian’s fans love Kathryn Drysdale, but if you’ve seen in her in far better outfits, then you know that this yellow plaid fit-and-flare dress is just one gleaming grave offense on the brilliant, gorgeous actress. Her hair and makeup looks fantastic, though.

5. Daisy Lowe in Yves Saint Laurent

Daisy Lowe at the UK Premiere of "The Wolf of Wall Street" Daisy Lowe in a low-cut sheer dress at the premiere of The Wolf of Wall Street at the Odeon Leicester Square in London, England, on January 9, 2014

Yes, sheer dresses are so in. But sometimes, we have to be careful with the styles we pick. Model Daisy Lowe’s lacy choice is a bit on the trampy side not because it’s low-cut but because the sheer element is not done very well. She must have realized this when she decided to wear that blazer jacket over it.

 6. Ann Willerton in Elizabeth Emanuel

Amy Willerton is a model that is easily in the sizzling category. But after the initial awe, she fizzled into our weird list because her choice of underwear with this sheer dress was great until the waist part. Again, it’s one of those dresses where the sheer element could’ve been done nicer.
