The special screening of the renowned F. Scott Fitzgerald’s novel turned film, The Great Gatsby, was star-studded. Aside from the cast, Hollywood A-listers, including Solange Knowles, populated the event.

The singer and Beyoncé’s sister is known for her bold print choices. She is not one to shy away from colors and is even famed for her penchant for color blocking. And her trademark hairdo, of course, couldn’t be missed.

Solange was dressed to the nines for the film screening in her Jill Stuart fit-and-flare dress, which featured a striking geometric print and peplum waist.

While her Jill Stuart Fall 2013 striped long-sleeve peplum dress was originally designed to be demure on the runway, Solange Knowles made a bold alteration by opening up the neckline to reveal a dramatic plunge, adding an unexpected twist to the ensembleWhile her Jill Stuart Fall 2013 striped long-sleeve peplum dress was originally designed to be demure on the runway, Solange Knowles made a bold alteration by opening up the neckline to reveal a dramatic plunge, adding an unexpected twist to the ensemble (Credit: Alberto Reyes / WENN)

Solange can’t be pried away from colors, so she injected a pop of red in this ensemble through her bright red Burberry Prorsum “Crayford” wedges.

The dress in question is a remarkable piece from Jill Stuart’s Fall 2013 collection. It seems that Solange, like myself, instantly fell in love with it for all the right reasons. The print is undeniably striking, capturing attention with its bold and captivating design. Combining the flare and peplum adds unique and eye-catching elements to the dress, elevating its overall appeal.

I’m torn, however, because I love the dress but hate how Solange styled it. On the runway, the dress was presented with its front zip-up, but Solange opted to show more than a bit of cleavage by keeping the zip open. That decision broke the geometric pattern of the dress and made it look quite tacky.

In addition, although I think the pop of red is a wise decision, I’m not wholly in favor of the singer’s shoe choice. The wedges cut the length of her legs. A pair with a different heel structure would have suited her better.

So, I guess this is a case of the dress looking better on the model than on the celebrity who wore it. But what about you, ladies? Do you echo my opinion or think Solange wore this dress and styled it perfectly?

Whether you hate or love Solange’s dress, this is your chance to think about how you’d style your geometric-print dress!
