Controversy erupted in the fashion world almost immediately after real estate mogul Donald Trump won the presidential election. According to reports, many notable designers refused to dress new First Lady Melania Trump. Some designers, like Tom Ford, have spoken publicly about the reasons why they refuse to connect their brand with the new couple in office.

Despite the controversy, Melania still managed to find a gorgeous dress for the inaugural ball. The First Lady donned a cream-colored off-the-shoulder piece which she co-designed with Hervé Pierre — a French-born designer who used to be a creative director for Carolina Herrera.

The lovely silk crepe gown featured a soft ruffle detail on the bodice, a long side slit and a simple red ribbon belt detail. Controversy or not, we can’t deny that the former model definitely wears her gowns very well. Do you like the new First Lady’s style?
