Jennifer Hudson transforms into the Queen of Soul for the movie titled “Respect” that is scheduled to be released in the United States on December 25, 2020. She co-stars with Forest Whitaker, Marlon Wayans, Audra McDonald, Marc Maron, Tituss Burgess, Saycon Sengbloh, Hailey Kilgore, Skye Dakota Turner, Tate Donovan, and Mary J. Blige.

After filming wrapped in February, she shared a message on Instagram about making the movie.
“To overwhelmed to get into it right now but words can’t express how grateful I am to be chosen by the queen herself and to live out yet another dream !” Hudson wrote. “It was my honor, to honor the Queen’s request! The one and only Queen of Soul #ArethaFranklin #respectMovie.”

The film follows Aretha Franklin’s career from a child singing in her father’s church’s choir to her international superstardom. The iconic American singer herself was involved with the development up until her death on August 16, 2018.
