Several big designer names have joined the “Go Green” bandwagon, including Stella McCartney, Victoria’s Secret, and H&M.
We really appreciate the fashion industry’s effort to clean up their acts, but one designer has a very unconventional take on green fashion.
Garbage Gone Glam creates one-of-a-kind, handmade dresses using recyclable materials, such as plastic bags and egg cartons, for businesses to use at events like trade shows and marketing campaigns
Young designer Kristen Alyce created the Florida-based brand Garbage Gone Glam, which features dresses, as well as a few accessories, that are literally made out of garbage.
They are fashioned to look like typical dresses but are made using recycled materials, like thrown-away drink cartons, concert tickets, leaflets, plastic wrappers, and magazine pages.
Garbage Gone Glam dresses start at $2,000 for clients and $500 for non-branded dresses
These dresses are seriously head-turning with their patchwork design and multicolor prints.
In addition to making dresses, Garbage Gone Glam also handle marketing campaigns for their clients
They look like the Derelicte collection from Zoolander and might actually work in costume parties and other quirky events.
The dresses have received positive attention and have been successful in events such as a charity event for Palm Beach Outlets where nonprofits promoted their organizations using models in Garbage Gone Glam dresses
The only problem is that they are all super expensive at $500 a pop, with dressier pieces priced at $1,500! Would you actually splurge on “garbage glam” dresses like these? Or is this just plain ridiculous?
Garbage Gone Glam is a fashion design company that creates unique, trendy dresses from recyclable materials for businesses to use at events, and also offers marketing campaigns, photo shoots, and promotional events for its clients, starting at $2,000 for custom dresses
