We hear PLAID is going to be a hot pattern for fall. Yep, the “dictators” have proclaimed this Scottish print to be the next big thing.

Now, if you think plaid is only meant for school girls, well, count yourself wrong because fashionistas are now donning the pattern in different ways.

One star spotted looking pretty edgy in plaid is young celebrity Emma Watson. The British actress, model, and activist attended the GQ Men of the Year Awards early this week in a plaid tartan wool puffball dress with tulle underlay from Alexander McQueen’s McQ line. She paired the dress with classic heels and a black leather biker jacket.

What can you say about Emma’s take on plaid here? It’s a girly look, but she toughened it up with that fabulous jacket. Since we’re talking about plaid, what do you think of Emma’s plaid McQ dress? Nice, yes?

It’s a classic piece with a little twist to it. As you can see, the pleating is done outside rather than tucked into the bodice. If you’re not into plaid but love the silhouette of the dress, a red version sans the tulle will cost you a heavy $885:
