Guy Pearce’s Commitment: A Decisive Factor in Brimstone’s Production
The situation was further complicated when Guy Pearce, who had already been cast as the Reverend, took a huge risk by flying to Europe to begin filming even though the financing was not yet fully secured. Pearce was determined to play the role, and his presence was ultimately a deciding factor in securing the rest of the budget.
Within days of Wasikowska’s departure, Fanning was cast as Liz. However, Pattinson’s replacement was not as straightforward.
Harington was initially unavailable, but he was eventually able to cut his holiday short and fly to the set. He only had a few days to prepare for filming, but he did a great job in the role.

Robert Pattinson’s Regrets: Withdrawing From Brimstone
In a 2017 interview, Pattinson said he had withdrawn from the film because he thought it would be canceled after Wasikowska left.
He also said his schedule was too tight because of his involvement in The Lost City of Z (2016). Pattinson admitted that it was “his own, stupid fault” for withdrawing from the film, and he said that he regretted not doing it.
