How to Wear a Romper and Still Look Like an Adult

We’re on the fence about rompers. On one hand, they have massive potential to look cute, but, on the other hand, they’re clothing meant for five-year-olds. And there’s nothing cute about a grownup wearing clothes designed for kids.

But when we saw pictures of Audrina Patridge absolutely rocking one at the world premiere of ‘The Lone Ranger’, it made us consider actually becoming 100% pro-rompers.

Much of that was because of one important detail on Audrina Patridge’s summery floral romper from Yumi Kim. See if you can spot it in these photos:

Do you see it? If not, here’s a side-by-side comparison with other previously featured celebrities in rompers to further help you out:

What makes Audrina Patridge’s romper so much more appropriate for an adult is the fact that it has sleeves. Just compare it with Nicky Hilton’s and Alessandra Ambrosio’s — even when styled with an expensive-looking bag and high heels, Nicky Hilton’s romper still looks very kiddie-ish.

As for Alessandra Ambrosio’s, those unflattering, loosely fitted, high-cut hips make her romper all the more weird to wear. The sleeves on Audrina Patridge’s romper spell all the difference — mostly because they make the item look like it’s two separate pieces, but then that’s the whole point.

Audrina’s adult-appropriate romper is the Yumi Kim “Liz.” It comes in plenty of colorful summery prints at Shopbop:

A vibrant print lends a bright aesthetic to a silk romper. The crossover neckline creates an alluring drape, and a self-belt cinches the waist.
