We are crushing on Louis Vuitton’s Spring 2013 collection. Somehow, the French label has managed to make bold checkered frocks look extremely attractive. And thanks to celebrities like Jessica Alba and Fan Bingbing (who were spotted sporting the dresses), we are now officially obsessed with black and white checks.
But like any other ordinary Josephine on the planet, to spend soooo much money on a single dress is just not in our DNA. Hence, a quest for the closest alternative that wouldn’t be too heavy on the pocket. We scoured our favorite stores and found these fantastic options. Feel free to grab all four (4) if you feel like it:
1. Fast Lane Dress, $58
At the top of our list is this $58 sheath from NastyGal. We consider this frock a treasure. It doesn’t come with big checks but it looks just as bold and mod. The cut is flattering, the length is just right, and the price is so easy on the pocket that if you were to decide not to grab this one, it would be a HUGE sin:
This dress from ASOS is soooo close to looking like Jessica Alba’s Louis Vuitton dress that we’re more than willing to overlook the python print it comes with. Besides, it retails at an easy $48 so you really cannot complain, yes?
We agree, this Kate Spade checkered dress isn’t exactly what you’d call pocket friendly. However, it is certainly a lot less expensive than the real deal. Besides, it is actually quite versatile and sophisticated — a black and white frock perfect for office days.
4. ModCloth Every Switch Way Dress, $53
This piece from ModCloth doesn’t exactly come with the standard square checks, but it is still a neat option if you’re looking for the black and white combination. Besides, it’s already a winner at $53. Just be sure to order several sizes up. We hear this one runs really small:
